AAP government to seek vote of confidence on Jan 02

The first session of the Delhi Assembly began today with the newly-elected MLAs taking oath. During the proceedings of the House, newly appointed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was first to take oath followed by his other Ministerial colleagues. Two MLAs who were not present in the Assembly today, will take oath tomorrow.

AIR correspondent reports, Congress MLA Mateen Ahmad who has been appointed as the pro-tem speaker, today administered the oath to the newly elected MLAs in the House. Now, all eyes are on tomorrow's proceedings when Arvind Kejriwal led AAP government will prove its majority on the floor of the House. The new government is totally dependent on the Congress support to cross the magic figure of 36 in the 70-member Assembly. One member of JD(U) has already announced its support to the new government. In Delhi Assembly, BJP with its ally Akali Dal has 32 MLAs followed by AAP with 28 MLAs, Congress 8, JD(U) one and one MLA is independent.
