The Aam Aamdi Party(AAP) today demanded the Election Commission to deploy additional central security forces and senior central observers in Varanasi to ensure that the poll campaign is not marred by violence.

Referring to the reported attack by BJP workers on its leader Somnath Bharti in the city, the AAP alleged that the local police authorities are unable and unwilling to do anything to stop attacks and identify the masterminds behind it.

In a letter to the Commission, the party leader Prashant Bhushan also alleged that there is a concerted attempt on part of BJP leaders to encourage attacks on AAP leaders which is preventing a fair campaign of the party.
