Aam Aadmi Party today announced the first list of 20 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. Announcing the list after the party's Political Affairs Committee meeting in New Delhi, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said it said Kumar Vishwas will contest from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh which is currently represented by the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
Journalist-turned-politician Ashutosh will fight from Chandni Chowk in Delhi while lawyer H S Phoolka will contest from Ludhiana constitutency in Punjab. These two constituencies are being represented by Law Minister Kapil Sibal and Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari in the current Lok Sabha respectively.
Other Aam Aadmi Party leaders whose names have been announced include Yogendra Yadav from Gurgaon, Baba Hardev Singh from Mainpuri which is held by SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mukul Tripathi from Farukhabad in UP at present represented by External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.
BJP leader Nitin Gadkari who is likely to contest from Nagpur will face Anjali Damania, social activist Medha Patekar will contest from Mumbai North-East while banker Meera Sanyal will fight from South Mumbai held presently by Union Minister Milind Deora.
Sanjay Singh said the Political Affairs Committee also decided to make Yogendra Yadav in charge of Assembly poll campaign in Haryana.
Somendra Dhaka will contest from Baghpath which is the sitting seat of Union Minister and RLD Chief Ajit Singh, Subhash Ware will try his fate in Pune which is presently represented by Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi and Khalid Parvaiz will be AAP candidate in Moradabad, Crickert turned Politician Azharuddin is siting Congress MP from this seat.
The other candidates are Jarnail Singh from West Delhi, Dr. Jiyalal Ram from Lalganj, Mayank Gandhi from Mumbai North West and Alok Aggrawal from Khandwa of Madhya Pradesh. Besides Vijya Baliram Pandhare will be the AAP candidate for Nashik, Lingraj for Bargarh, Odisha, Yogesh Dahiya for Saharanpur and Habung Payeng for Arunachal West.
AAP leader Manish Sisodia said that party's main motto is to send honest people to Parliament and it does not want to send criminals, people with dynastic background. He said AAP will soon release the list of candidates for other seats.
