AAI develops low cost model airport to promote remote area connectivity

Airports Authority of India, AAI, has developed a Low Cost Model Airport, providing essential services required to operationalize an airport, to promote regional and remote area connectivity with a focus on promoting tourism and other economic activities. It would be a No Frills airport model without compromising on safety and security. Briefing reporters on the completion of hundred days of the new government in New Delhi, Minister for Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapati Raju Pusapati said , a Memorandum for setting up solar power plants has been signed between Airports Authority of India and Solar Energy Corporation of India on May 28th, 2014.Automation system at Mumbai airport has been upgraded and radar data from Mumbai, Bhopal, Ahmedabad and Udaipur have been integrated into the system leading to enhanced and seamless0 Radar coverage and permitting enhanced safety of aircraft operations. CISF has established help desk at 76 airports across the country to assist passengers. The minister said, a mobile application based public grievance system has been started which will initially give details of 20 airports and will be extended to all airports by 31st of March next year. Orders have also been issued to Airports and Airlines to provide facilities to the disabled persons.The ministry launched a New portal on passengers' related information KYR, Know Your Rights , today. To enhance transparency and effectiveness, DGCA is introducing e-governance for Civil Aviation. Listing out the achievements of the ministry he said ,Air India recently joined Star Alliance. Public Airlines successfully evacuated 1361 Indian nationals from Iraq and Libya. The Minister added that Air India is also assisting in rescue operation in Kashmir by providing two special flights.
