Aadhaar of Husband is not mandatory under Matru Vandana Yojana to facilitate inclusion of single mother: Govt

Government has clarified that Aadhaar of Husband is not mandatory under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, PMMVY, to facilitate the inclusion of single mother and abandoned mother. Under the scheme, maternity benefits of five thousand rupees is being provided in three installments to the Pregnant Women and the Lactating Mothers for the first living child of the family upon fulfilment of certain conditionalities. Earlier, the beneficiary was required to provide Aadhaar cards of the women and their husbands. This information was given by the Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.<br />'' <br />''The Minister said, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is implemented in all States and Union Territories, except Odisha and Telangana. The seasonal migrants can avail the benefits of the scheme from any of the State and Union Territory implementing the scheme.<br />'' <br />''Government has said that nearly 9,792 crore rupees have been transferred to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, PMMVY. In the Rajya Sabha, Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani said over 2.58 crore beneficiaries have benefited since inception of the scheme on January, 2017.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Minister said, the government is implementing the scheme under which maternity benefit of five thousand rupees is being provided in three installments to pregnant women and lactating mothers for the first living child of the family upon fulfillment of certain conditionalities.</span>
