Aadhaar not mandatory for school admission: UIDAI

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has said that school should ensure that no children are denied of admission and other facilities, for the lack of Aadhaar. <br />''  <br />'' In a statement, the authority said, some instances have come to its notice that few schools are denying admission to children for want of Aadhaar. <br />''  <br />'' UIDAI said, it is the responsibility of school to provide Aadhaar enrolment and facility to their students. <br />''  <br />'' CEO of UIDAI Dr Ajay Bhushan Pandey said, it is the responsibility of the schools to organize special camps in their premises in coordination with local banks, post offices, state education department and district administration. <br />''  <br />'' He said, till Aadhaar number is assigned or biometrics are d for such students, all facilities should be extended through alternate means of identification.<br />'' <br />
