Indian athletes Jauna Murmu and Dutee Chand today reached the final of women 400 metres hurdles and 100 metres sprint on second day of the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Murmu qualified for the final round by finishing second in Heat 2 of women 400 metres hurdles. The third spot was grabbed by India's Anu R. The heat was topped by Nguyen Thi of Vietnam. In the women's 100 metres sprint event, ace Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand stormed into the final round by finishing second in heat 2 of the semi-final stage. The sprint queen clocked a timing of 11.56 seconds. The final match of the both events is scheduled to be held tomorrow evening. In semi-final of the men 100 metres sprint event, Amiya Kumar Mallick was disqualified due to a false start in heat 3 of the semi-final round. India has so far bagged seven medals including two gold to sit atop the medal tally. The Asian Championships winner gets automatic berth for the World Championships to be held in London next month.
