The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that a woman Constable was gang raped by her colleagues in Ma?u?ranipur? in Jhansi District, Uttar Pradesh. The Commission has issued a notice to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jhansi calling for a report within two weeks. The Commission observed that the contents of the report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim woman.? <br/><br/>According to the media report, carried on the 6th October, 2015 and forwarded by a human rights activist, the woman Constable, a resident of Mainpuri , was posted at Etawah Police Line. She had come to Ma?u?ranipur, Jhansi for duty at the Jal Vihar ?fair ?for fifteen days. After the fair, while she was returning back on the 28th September 2015, she was enticed by her two male Constable colleagues and taken in a car driven by another person. They subjected her to gang rape in the car before being let off. She was admitted in a critical condition at District Hospital, Etawah.
