A Malaysian airliner carrying 239 people goes missing on way to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur

A Malaysia Airlines flight with 239 people on board bound for Beijing from Kuala Lumpur has lost contact with Air Traffic Control after leaving the Malaysian capital.

The airlines said in a statement that Flight MH370, a Boeing 777-200 lost contact just after midnight and was due to arrive in Beijing at 6:30 am local time today. The carrier said the Airlines is working with authorities who have mounted search and rescue operations to locate the aircraft.
