Defence Minister A K Antony said that there will be talks with Pakistan on the Siachen issue in the second week of June. He however said that dramatic results should not be expected. He was replying to a discussion in Rajya Sabha yesterday on the working of the Defence Ministry. Mr Antony said, there is no change in the position on Siachen and India wants authentication of troop positions.
Mr Antony said, the Opposition should give healthy suggestions to improve the country's defence preparedness.
The Defence Minister assured the House that the suggestions of the members will be taken with a serious note and appropriate corrections will be made. Mr Antony said, the government is committed to give state of the art arms and ammunition to the armed forces. Earlier, leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley said that defence preparedness has to be matched with the changing realities.
