A.K. Antony of Congress, Janata Dal (U)'s MP, Veerendra Kumar and the CPI-M's Somaprasad declared elected to Rajya Sabha from Kerala

Congress leader A.K. Antony, Janata Dal (U)'s MP, Veerendra Kumar and the CPI-M's Somaprasad were today declared elected to the Rajya Sabha from Kerala. <br/><br/>While Mr. Antony and Mr. Veerendra Kumar are nominees of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), the ruling coalition in the State, Mr. Somaprasad was fielded by by the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Let Democratic Front (LDF). All the three nominees were elected unopposed. <br/> Mr. Antony has served two consecutive terms in the Rajya Sabha since 2005. Mr. Kumar Kumar has twice been a member of the Lok Sabha. The three seats that fell vacant were held by Mrs. T.N. Seema and Mr. K.N. Balagopal of the CPI (M) and Mr. Antony.
