Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said that China's decision to make its currency the Yuan, more flexible will help the world economy. Speaking in Washington at an interactive session with Indian and American CEOs, Mr. Mukherjee hoped that China would address the problem in its proper perspective and Beijing's recent announcement meant that they would adopt flexibility for the Yuan. Mr. Mukherjee said, he believed, that as a major player in the economic arena, China should take note of the concern of the world economy and have flexible currency. The Finance minister also said that it however is not going to have much impact on the Indo-China bilateral relationship. Earlier in the day, the White House said that it would be monitoring the progress on the Chinese assurance that it would be making its currency more flexible. US President, Barack Obama, had earlier, welcomed the Chinese announcement that Beijing will move towards a more flexible exchange rate.
