In West Bengal, a Birbhum Court has awarded life imprisonment to 44 CPM-M workers for killing Trinamool Congress activists. First Additional Chief Sessions Judge of Suri in Birbhum District, Biswanath Konar found the 44 accused guilty of killing 11 Trinamool supporters at Suchpur village under Nanoor Police Station area in July 2000.
