985 railway employees have either been dismissed or given minor punishment for negligence in duty leading to railway accidents. Responding to queries in the Rajya Sabha on Friday the Railway Minister Mamta Banerjee said that Janeshwari Express train mishap probe has been handed over to CBI for investigation and another case is shortly being referred to the investigating agency. She informed the House that 100 train accidents took place in 2009-10 out of which seven were caused due to bomb blasts. The Minister gave the details of the measures taken by the government to prevent sabotage by miscreants and to ensure secure journey of the passengers. This includes strengthening of security system, escort by railway protection force to nominated trains and close coordination between ministry of Railways and Home Ministry.
