In Chhattisgarh, scrutiny of nomination papers for the second phase of elections in 72 constituencies took place on Saturday. After scrutiny, 130 nomination papers were rejected and 952 are left in the fray.
On the last day of filing of nominations on Friday, one thousand eighty two aspirants had filed their nomination papers from 72 constituencies.
After scrutiny, 952 candidates have been left in the fray from these constituencies. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is November four. Polling is scheduled on November 19.
Meanwhile, electioneering is picking up in 18 constituencies going to polls in the first phase on November 11. Most of these constituencies are Maoist affected and candidates are canvassing support for themselves under tight security cover.
