The government today announced massive subsidy to encourage Community Radio sector in this country. It announced that 90 percent subsidy will be provided for starting such stations in the northeastern states and 75 percent in other states.<br/><br/>Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu made this announcement at a conference of state Information ministers (SIMCON) in New Delhi today. As per the present rules, Information and Broadcasting Ministry gives a subsidy of 50 percent up to a limit of 7.5 lakh rupees, for starting community radio stations. <br/><br/>Mr. Naidu said that the Government would formulate National Information and Communication Policy in consultation with States for a comprehensive and Integrated approach toward communication and information dissemination.<br/><br/>Speaking about the 'Most Film Friendly State Award' incorporated last year in the 'National Film Awards', Mr. Naidu said that states should emphasise on this new initiative as it would enhance revenue as well as encourage tourism in the state. <br/><br/>In this context, he also announced earlier today a cash component of Rs. One Crore for the 'Most Film Friendly State Award'.<br/><br/>Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore said collaboration between States and Centre was bedrock for Good Governance . He said that is a need for moving forward together as Team India in scripting the development of the nation. <br/><br/>He emphasised that Information dissemination and the analysis of the feedback was a important component in the scope of communication landscape. <br/><br/>Participating in the deliberations, the Information ministers of various states appreciated the quality of All India Radio and Doordarshan programmes and many of them suggested that in larger public interest the duration of news bulletins should be increased and new bulletins should be started in various dialects.<br/><br/>Mr Venkaiah Naidu also announced that a new dedicated Doordarshan channel, ArunPrabha, for the northeastern states will come up in the first half of January.
