9 years of Modi Govt: Various initiatives taken by Narendra Modi government to ensure complete turnaround of Northeastern states

As the Narendra Modi Government is completing nine years in office this month, Akashvani News is bringing a series of special stories on the initiatives taken by the government. Today, we will take a look at the various initiatives taken by the Narendra Modi government to ensure a complete turnaround of the Northeastern states. Seamless connectivity, brisk infrastructure development, healthcare, peace, stability, and inclusiveness have been the hallmark of the transformation that these states have witnessed from 2014 onwards.
''
'' The North Eastern Region of India, because of its geographical location, difficult terrain, high rainfall, vast hilly region, large forest areas, and a large number of ethnic groups, is not a very homogenous territory for easily providing normal health care services round the clock to all people of the region. However, since 2014, North East India has undergone a massive transformation in the grassroots, especially in the healthcare and medical sector due to the sustained efforts of the present Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
''
'' In 2018, the Government of India launched Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan AarogyaYojana (AB-PMJAY) one of the most ambitious health missions ever to expand universal health coverage, especially in rural and vulnerable populations.
''
'' Ayushman Bharat provides health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to poor and vulnerable families.
''
'' With Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan AarogyaYojana, the government is taking healthcare protection to a new aspirational level. The "world's largest government-funded healthcare program" targeting more than 50 crore beneficiaries, is one such programme which has given a ray of hope to many especially to the far East of the country, especially to the people of Nagaland.
''
'' A report:
''
''Since the launch of Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana AB-PMJAY in 2018, the flagship public health insurance scheme has reduced the financial burden on poor and vulnerable groups in Nagaland. Around 2.3 lakh estimated households in Nagaland were covered, while more than 4.5 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued to eligible beneficiaries. There are now a total of 151 empanelled hospitals in the state – which include 122 public hospitals, and 29 private hospitals. Naga Hospital Authority Kohima,(NHAK) is one such empanelled government hospital, successfully implementing the AB-PMJAY and has around 5000 registered beneficiaries availing of the scheme. Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana has become a game-changing health scheme for the people of the country at large especially to this small hilly state of Nagaland. It is a fact that more people are coming forward to embrace such a life-changing healthcare scheme and thus, it is a testament to the NDA government's commitment in ensuring an equitable healthcare access for all.
