9 years of Modi Govt: Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry launches SACRED portal for senior citizens

Today, we take a look at the story on SACRED portal.<br />”<br />”Akashvani Correspondent reports, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment implements several Schemes for the welfare of Senior Citizens.<br />”<br />”As part of promoting Silver Economy, an open invitation is given on the portal namely Seniorcare Ageing Growth Engine (SAGE) through which entrepreneurs are encouraged to think about the problems of the elderly and come out with innovative out-of-the-box solutions.<br />”<br />”Under this scheme, an amount upto one crore rupees as financial assistance is provided in the form of maximum 49 percent equity participation.<br />”<br />”The Senior Able Citizens for Re-Employment in Dignity (SACRED) portal, allows bringing people together by virtual matching of preferences by providing the Senior Citizens a platform to connect with the private enterprises for certain positions.&nbsp;<br />”<br />”Addressing Samajik Adhikarita Shivir at Prayagraj, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that Government is constantly working to mitigate the problems from the lives of senior citizens.<br />”<br />”There is a sharp rise in India’s elderly population and Government's thrust is on creating an ecosystem that supports their needs more holistically.<br />”<br />”There are 110 million elders in this country, who are above the age of 60. As per the latest reports, the share of elders, as a percentage of the total population in the country, is expected to increase from around 7.5 percent in 2001 to almost 12.5 percent by 2026 and surpass 19.5 percent by 2050.&nbsp;<br />
