9 years of Modi govt: PMMSK scheme aims to empower rural women through State and District Centres

As the NDA Government completed nine years in office last month, Akashvani News brings a series of special stories on the initiatives taken by the government. Today, we take a look at the story on Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra PMMSK.<br />”<br />”The Scheme was approved by the Union Cabinet in November 2017 as a centrally sponsored scheme to empower rural women through community participation. Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra PMMSK is envisaged to work at various levels.<br />”<br />”While, National level and State level structures provide technical support to the government on issues related to women, the District and Block level Centres provide support to PMMSK and also give a foothold to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao in 640 districts.<br />”<br />”&nbsp;It is implemented through State Governments and UT Administrations with a cost-sharing ratio of 60:40 between Centre and States except for North East and Special Category States where the funding ratio is 90:10.<br />”<br />”For Union Territories 100 per cent central funding is provided.<br />”<br />”Replying to motion of thanks on President's address to Parliament in Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that empowering Nari Shakti has been the priority for his government.<br />”&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br />”The Scheme provides for National, State and District Level Task Forces for review, monitoring and coordination at their respective levels. The functioning of scheme is also reviewed by Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office and NITI Aayog.&nbsp;<br />
