A nine-year-old girl has officially opened the 2012 Olympics stadium, at a ceremony in east London. Around 40,000 members of the public were at the stadium in Stratford to witness the opening yesterday, exactly 2,012 hours before the Games begin.The 80,000-capacity venue hosts the Olympic opening ceremony on July 27. The stadium, at the centre of the Olympic Park, will go into lockdown from May 12 as organisers put the final touches on the facility. Police helicopters flew over the park and armed police patrolled the area.
