Nine players including Vikas Gowda have qualified for the World Athletics Championship to be held at Moscow. The Indian Athletics fedration secretary C.K. Walson released the list of th players at Chennai yesterday. They are Vikas Gowda – discus throw, Ram Singh Yadav – Marathon, K.T. Irfan, Gurmeet Singh, Baljinder Singh at Chander Singh – all in Men's 20 km walk, and Basant Bhadur Rana and Sandeep both in 50 km men's walk. Kushbir Kaur is the only women athlete in the squad who will take part in 20 km walk.Meanwhile, the 63rd Interstates Athletics Championship will be held at Chennai from the fourth to the seventh of this month.This championship will be the base for selecting players the Asian Championship at Pune next month and the world Championship in Moscow in August this year.
