In Andhra Pradesh, nine persons killed and 25 passengers were seriously injured when the Hampi Express train travelling from Hubli to Bangalore rammed into a static goods train at Penukonda Railway station in Ananthapur District. Railway officials said the incident occurred as the signal was given to the Humpi express to the same track where goods train was already static. Our correspondent reports that the incident occurred at 3:45 early this morning. The Union Railway Minister Mr. Mukul Roy, is rushing to the accident site.
