9 central trade unions call for strike

<br/>Nine central trade unions have given a call for strikes in the Coal India Limited and the BSNL. While the strike in Coal India Limited will be for three days beginning from fifth of next month, the BSNL will go for an indefinite strike from 20th of this month. All India Trade Union Congress general secretary Gurdas Dasgupta said the call has been given to protest against the government's move to disinvest the giant Public Sector Undertakings and calculated design to destroy the public sector in the country. Mr. Dasgupta said this is the first time all the nine central unions, including Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), have given a joint call for strike in these two PSUs on the issue of disinvestment.
