Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajpaksa is scheduled to inaugurate the 8th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting in Colombo today. The theme of this year’s meeting is ‘Spirit of Asia: Global Economic Recovery and Development Prospects’. A large number of Foreign Ministers, Deputy and State Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the 31 member countries are expected to attend this Meeting. India is being represented by the State Minister for External affairs Mrs. Preneet Kaur. Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama will chair the Ministerial Meeting. Assumption of the Chair of the ACD is in addition to Sri Lanka holding the position of the Chair of the SAARC. Sri Lanka is also scheduled to chair the next G-15 meeting. It is perhaps the first time that Sri Lanka is holding the Chairmanship of three important international and regional organizations simultaneously.This was preceded by the Senior Officials Meeting of the ACD which was held yesterday.
