A total of 892 police and paramilitary personnel have been awarded various service medals on the eve of Independence Day. While the President's Police Medal for gallantry has been awarded to 13 personnel, Police Medals for gallantry have been awarded to 113 personnel, President's Police Medal for distinguished service to 84 personnel and Police Medals for meritorious service have been awarded to 682 personnel.

Two CRPF personnel have also been awarded the Ashoka Chakra.
