Government today said, about 87 per cent sugarcane dues have been paid for the season 2015-16. Food and Consumer affairs Ministry has said that sugarcane price arrears for sugar season 2015-16 have come down to six thousand 225 crore rupees. During the corresponding period of last year these dues were over 19 thousand crore rupees. <br/><br/>Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed his unhappiness over the non-payment of full dues to Sugarcane growers. Addressing a mega rally in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh on 27th of last month to mark the second anniversary of the NDA government, Mr. Modi had said that the Centre has given money to the state government for paying the dues of cane growers, but their dues are still outstanding.
