8,500 Jan Aushadi Kendras set up across the country to provide affordable medicines to cancer patients: Health Minister Manuskh Mandaviya

<span style="color: #222222;">The government today said that 8,500 Jan Aushadi Kendras have been set up across the country, which provides affordable medicines to cancer patients.<br />''<br />''Replying to questions in the Lok Sabha, Health and Family welfare minister  Manuskh Mandaviya said that cancer is a multifactorial disease, the risk factors of which include ageing population, sedentary lifestyle, use of tobacco products, alcohol, unhealthy diet and air pollution.  <br />''<br />''He said that the government is setting up one lakh 50 thousand health and wellness centres in the country, out of which 80,000 centres have already been started.<br />''<br />''Mr. Mandaviya said, the health minister has powers to provide financial support of upto 20 lakh rupees to a person living below the poverty line (BPL) and is suffering from cancer. However, he informed the House that he has not used those powers yet.        <br />''<br />''He said, the department of Health and Family Welfare provides technical and financial support to the states and union territories including Ladakh under the National Programme for Prevention and control of cancer, diabetes , cardiovascular diseases and stroke as part of the National Health Mission based on the proposals received. </span><br />
