840 new Pvt. FM radio stations in 294 cities to be auctioned says I & B Minister

Inaugurating the newly built All India Radio station in Ujjain Friday evening, the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mr. Manish Tewari, said that his ministry has decided to hold auction for 840 new private FM radio station in 294 cities of the country. He said, news broadcast will also be permitted on these FM stations later.

Earlier, Mr. Tewari said that the deadline for installing set top boxes in the selected cities under the second phase of digitisation will not be relaxed. Interacting with media, he said that digitisation is being carried out to bring transparency in the field of cable television broadcast and to benefit all the parties associated with it.
