83% polling in Nagaland Assembly elections; 88% in Meghalaya

Heavy polling was reported in today’s assembly elections to elect 59 members of the 60-member state legislature in Nagaland. Speaking to mediapersons this evening at Kohima, State Chief Electoral Officer J Alam said, over 83 per cent votes have been polled today. He also said that the polling percentage may increase as the final figures are awaited from the remote areas of the state.

In Meghalaya, 88 per cent polling was recorded in today's assembly elections. The elections by and large was peacefull.

The counting of votes of both the assemblies will take place on 28th of this month.
