In West Bengal, 83 per cent polling was recorded for 5th phase of Assembly elections in the State. The polling took place for 38 seats covering parts of West Medinipur, Bankura, Purulia and Burdwan districts yesterday. The polling ended by and large peacefully barring some minor incidents. According to the State Election Department sources the poll per centage was recorded in West Medinipur 86, Bankura 85, Burdwan 82 and Purulia 80 per cent, which are higher than last Assembly polls. Meanwhile, campaigning for 6th phase of Assembly elections will come to an end this afternoon. The polls will take place for 14 seats in Jungle Mahal in the remaining areas of West Medinipur, Bankura and Purulia districts on Tuesday. Unprecedented security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful voting in this phase of polls at Maoist infested areas.
