82 suspects held in last year's Maguindanao massacre in Philippines

In the Philippines, security forces have so far arrested 82 suspects involved in last year's Maguindanao massacre. Regional Police spokesman, Chief Inspector Alexis Yap today said the latest was Manny Ampatuan, a member of the Ampatuan political clan who participated in the murder of 58 people, including 32 journalists in November last year. He was captured by local police in Capayoran village in the southern Maguindanao province. The spokesman said there are still 113 suspects at large and they are looking for them. Governor Esmail Mangudadatu of the province said other followers and militias of Ampatuans who went on hiding have been engaged in kidnapping and extortion activities.
