The government today said that at present about 8000 workers are working at various construction projects in Commonwealth Games sites. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Labour and employment minister Mallikarjun Kharge said workers in various construction projects under Commonwealth Games are not recruited by contractor from other states under an agreement. He, however, made it clear that steps have been taken to enforce provision of Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and the Building and other Construction Workers Act, 1966.
