The Minister for Water Resources,River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti said that 80 percent of Yamuna river in Delhi will be cleaned up by 2017. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Ms Bharti said, intercepting plants are being set up at big drainage to check entering of waste into the river. She said, the plants will be functional from April next year. <br/><br/>She also informed the House that the government has approved a Lakhvar – Vyasi project after holding consultation with the Uttarakhand government for the cleaning of Yamuna. To maintain the flow of Yamuna river to avoid any stagnation of waste products, the Minister said, it is being ensured that adequate volume of water should be released from the Hathnikund Barrage without hampering irrigation works.
