In Afghanistan, at least 80 militants, 6 foreign and 2 Afghan soldiers have been killed during joint operations in eastern Kunar province. NATO-led coalition said in a statement on Wednesday that the operation was launched in Marawara district bordering Pakistan last week. It said the forces have seized some Pakistani weapons and Improvised Explosive Devices during the operation. The operation is still continuing and there have been no civilian casualties in the operation. According to Afghan officials, militants use the highway of Marwara district to traffick drugs out of the country.During the operation foreign and Afghan forces have seized 280 Kg of drugs. In another incident, seven militants were killed last night when they attacked a NATO base in eastern province of Nangarhar. NATO said the attack was carried out in the eastern city of Jalalabad by militants firing assault rifles and rocket propelled grenades. Four militants were killed in a similar attack on a military base outside capital Kabul last week.
