In Uttar Pradesh, the administration in Unnao performed a mass burial of around eighty human bodies on the banks of the Ganga in Safipur area of the district which were found adrift in the river. District Magistrate, Unnao Soumya Agarwal said, a team of doctors has collected the DNA samples of more than 30 bodies. She said, DNA profiling will be done to ascertain their age.
A Water Resource Ministry team visited the spot to take stock of the situation. Meanwhile, panic also gripped people about 250 km away in Barusagar area of Jhansi when about half a dozen bodies were found on the banks of river Betwa yesterday.
These bodies were stuck in the weeds on the bank and scattered over a span of 50 meters.? ?Jhansi police chief Shivsagar Singh said that matter is being investigated and we have sent a team of doctors to collect samples for DNA sampling. Preliminary investigation reveals that these bodies had been disposed by the locals who either can't afford cremation or do it under other orthodox beliefs.
