8 Mountain Division organises Kissan Mela in Kargil

In Jammu and Kashmir, 8 Mountain Division organized a Kissan Mela at Khumbatahng Kargil in which Scientists from Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR) gave a brief presentation on how the productivity of agriculture products can be increased in high altitude area like Ladakh. <br/><br/>Dr. Narendra Singh Scientist explained about the market of agriculture products in Ladakh and how DIHAR is helping in the production of high yield products. On this occasion tow scientist of DIHAR who belongs to Ladakh region also explained the people about various methods of productivity.<br/><br/> DR. T Stobdan and Dr. Dorjey Angchok explained the people about the marketing of agriculture products and about the facilities provided by DIHAR to the general public.<br/><br/>On this occasion the General Officer Commanding 8 Mountain Division Major General Rajiv Bhalla said that the motive of this mela is to make the farmers of Kargil aware about the potentiality and the economical value of their products and to introduce the farmers with the new scientific method of producing high yield productivity. <br/><br/>The Chief Guest on the occasion the Executive Councilor for Agriculture Ladakh Autnomous Hill Development Council Kargil Haji Ghulam Amir thanked the Indian Army for conducting such a camp/mela and said that the people of Kargil always given their full contribution durning any kind of emergency and will do the same in the future.<br/>He said that the Army should do developmental works as a token of social responsibility towards the public.<br/><br/>The Scientists also distributed high yield seeds of DIHAR free of cost amongst the public. Talking to our correspondent Anayat Ali Dr. Narendra said that Dihar is planning to open a branch of its research center in Kargil in the near future.
