7th SAFF begins in Goa

The Seventh South Asia Film Festival (SAFF)-2012 begins at Kala Academy at Panaji in Goa this evening. Rajya Sabha MP Tariq Anwar will inaugurate the three day event. Bollywood actor Randhir Kapoor will be the guest of honour.

The inaugural day of the three day event will witness South Asia Foundation paying tributes to legendary film Director Yash Chopra for his enormous contribution to India Cinema and interfacing Indian Cinema with global cinema to the highest level.

The inaugural function will be followed by the screening of the opening film “Raja Harishchandra”the first ever film of the Indian Cinema in silent form. During the next three days as many as 40 films from eight South Asian countries – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh Nepal, Sri lanka, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Maldives will be screened. As many as 24 delegates from eight countries besides a delegation from Bhutan will attend the festival.
