The 7th edition of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Artists Camp and Exhibition of Paintings has began at Kathmandu on Friday. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal, Jitendra Narayan Dev inaugurated the event. Around 40 artists from SAARC member countries except Afghanistan taking part in the 4 day camp. <br/><br/>In his address Mr. Dev said that SAARC countries have rich art and cultural heritage. He said that art has no language and borders and south asian countries should work together to preserve their heritage. Mr. Dev also said that such events not only provide platform to artists to exchange ideas with fellow artists but also help in creating special bonding among themselves. <br/><br/>Talking to AIR, Deputy Director of Programmes at SAARC Cultural Centre, Colombo Kishani Jayasinghe Vijayasekhra said that event is aimed to bring art and culture of member countries together. She expressed hope that relations build among artists during the camp would be carried forward and strengthen people to people contact. <br/><br/>One of the participant from India, Harsh Vardhan Shrama told our Kathmandu correspondent that such camps gives an opportunity to learn many things from artists of other countries and brings them closer to each other. The event is organised by Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal and SAARC Cultural Centre, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
