In Pune Noted film maker Govind Nihalani inaugurated the seventh Asian Film Festival on Friday. The festival, to be held till December 29, will showcase over 80 films from 28 countries.Hindi Film maker Priyadarshan will be honoured with the prestigious Zenith Asia Award on 25 December.The festval is organised by Aashay Film Club Pune, in association with Third Eye-Asian Film Foundation in Mumbai, National Film Archives of India and Film and Television Inistitute of India.AIR correspondent reports, on the opening day the much talked film, 'Opium War', by Siddiq Barmak from Afghanistan has received wide acclamation.Special focus on Turkish films, a retrospective on Sudhir Mishra's films, a section devoted to films by Polish director Jan Jakob Kolski and a screening of this year's Dadasaheb Phalke awardee filmmaker K Balachander's 'Taneer Taneer,' are some of the highlights of the festival.A separate 'My Marathi' section will feature six new Marathi films apart from films based on stories of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore to commemorate his 150th birth anniversary would be screened.
