In Nepal, 78 year old Min Bahadur Sherchan became the oldest man to have conquered Mt. Everest. Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal unveiled Sherchan’s Guinness World Record certificate at a function in Kathmandu.According to Guinness certificate, Min Bahadur Sherchan reached the Everest summit on 25 May 2008 at the age of 76 years. Sherchan has officially replaced 75-year old Japanese climber Yuichiro Miura in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest man to climb Mt Everest.Addressing the function, Sherchan said he determined to break his own world record by ascending the Everest once more at the age of 84 by 2014. Sherchan said he would launch a campaign to protect the earth from nuclear and climate change.
