In Morocco, at least 78 people have been killed when a military transport plane crashed into a mountain in the south of the country due to bad weather. The military said the crash occurred when a C-130 Hercules aircraft was trying to land in Guelmim, having flown north from the disputed Western Sahara territory. It said three people have been seriously injured. The military said 60 soldiers, 12 civilians and nine crew members were on board at the time of the crash. It said the three survivors and 42 bodies recovered so far have been taken to the nearby military hospital. Reports said there was thick fog in the area at the time of the crash, which occurred at 9 am local time today, about 730 kilometres south of the capital, Rabat. King Mohammed of Morocco has declared three days of national mourning for the 78 people killed. He ordered the prayers of remembrance would be held on Friday in all mosques.
