77 Indian fishermen released by Lanka to return home

In Tamil Nadu seventy seven fishermen released from Sri Lankan jail will return home on Thursday night. Sri Lankan Navy handed over the Indian fishermen to Indian Coast Guard at the international maritme boundary line on Thursday afternoon. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that there is a huge sense of relief and joy as Indian fishermen are released from Lankan jail. The fishermen from Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram Pudukottai districts were brought from international maritme boundary line by Indian Coast Guard. <br/><br/>The fishermen were apprehended by Sri Lankan Navy for entering Lankan waters for fishing. More than 150 fishing boats were also detained by Sri Lanka. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapady Palanisamy had thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week for intervening and securing the release of fishermen.
