The Information and Broadcasting Ministry on Wednesday said that an overall 77 per cent of Cable TV Digitization work has been completed in the four metro cities of the country.

In a statement issued in New Delhi, the ministry added that the level of Cable digitization in Mumbai has reached 99 per cent , followed by Kolkata with 73 per cent, Delhi with 66 per cent and in Chennai it has reached 59 per cent.

The Ministry is monitoring the progress made towards digitization with all stakeholders regularly.

AIR correspondent reports that government has set 31 October,2012 as the deadline for complete cable TV digitization in four metros.
