In Tamilnadu, around 76 percent of votes were polled in the second phase of the civic body election on Wednesday. Polling remained by and large peaceful in 194 rural panchayat unions, 63 municipalities and 270 town panchayats.Re-polling will be held on Thursday in seven booths. Counting for the civic polls will be held on Friday. In Chennai 18 counting centres have been set up. The process will be supervised by 35 observers. The whole process would be recorded on camera.The State election commission had made elaborate security arrangements all over the State in view of the election. The EVMs and ballot boxes are being guarded under tight security. Sensitive booths have been identified and put under video surveillance.
