The 74th Republic Day was celebrated with grandeur in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Lt. Governor Admiral D K Joshi unfurled the National Flag at Marina Park Road in Port Blair followed by a Parade. The contingent of Andaman Nicobar Command, Police, IRBn, Pipe Band, and NCC cadets and school children participated in the parade. Cultural dance performances were also presented at the occasion.<br />''<br />''The Lt. Governor presented his commendation certificates to 18 persons for their exemplary contributions. In his address on the occasion, the Lt. Governor highlighted the developmental works being done in the islands. These included seaplane projects, Great Nicobar transshipment Project, and enhancing heli services.<br />''<br />''He stated that the ongoing work of new terminal of Port Blair airport has been almost 85 percent completed. The work of extending the runway at INS Kohasa in Shibpur is also under process to start civil operations. <br />
