The 74th conference of presiding officers of legislative bodies of the country concluded in Bhopal today. Briefing media about the conclusions of conference Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said that presiding officers have expressed concern over passing of bills and budget without proper discussions in the house. She said that the main reason for such situation is decline in the number of sittings of houses and disruptions during debates.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>She said that presiding officers were unanimous on formation of an institutional mechanism under which members should go to their respective areas after the session is over, to tell the people what they did in the house for their welfare. Mrs. Kumar said that presiding officers were also of the view that creation of more states will weaken the republic structure of the country. She said this issue needs more discussions. Lok Sabha Speaker also informed that the next conference of presiding officers would be held in Jammu and Kashmir.
