Japanese mountaineer – Tamae Watanbe has become the oldest woman to climb Mount Everest at the age of 73. She broke her own record set by her on May 16 2002 at the age of 63 when she successfully scaled the summit. Accompanied by Noriyuki Muraguchi from Japan and three Sherpas, she reached the summit at 7 am from the toughest North side.Several others including a dozen mountaineers from Pune also reached the 8,848-metres today. They were part of two separate expeditions of Sagarmatha Giryarohan Sanstha and Giripremi groups. Reports also said that an ITBP Mountaineering team too climbed the summit from the Chinese side today. After successfully climbing the peak from the Chinese side today climbers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police will make history to ski down from the world's highest summit.Another Indian – Kapil also scaled the summit as part of the Eco Everest Expedition organised by Asian Trekking.
