72nd All India Police Hockey Championship Kicks Off in Jammu; Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey Declares Event Open

The 72nd All India Police Hockey Championship kicked off today with a vibrant and colourful opening ceremony at Astro Turf K.K. Hakku Stadium, Jammu.

President Hockey India and former Captain of Indian Hockey team, Padmashree Dilip Tirkey who was the Chief Guest, declared the Championship Open. Director General of J&K Police R.R Swain was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The championship which began today will continue till February 08 2024, and will witness participation from 34 police teams (men & women) from different States/UTs of the country besides Central paramilitary forces. About 1000 players and officials are taking part in the ten days long event.

Earlier, Mr R.R. Swain yesterday convened a meeting at Police headquarters in Jammu to review the arrangements for this event. He asked every individual officer and unit to put in best efforts to make the Championship a huge success.
