The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has released an amount of 728 crore rupees to various states for development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PTGs). An official release said, the ministry has decided to give special attention to such groups among tribal communities with declining or stagnant population, low level of literacy, pre-agricultural level of technology and are economically backward. 75 such groups in 17 States and one Union Territory have been identified and categorized as Vulnerable Tribal Groups.
