In Kerala, 70 per cent polling has been recorded in the second phase of election held today for local self government institutions. The percentage is likely to go up further once the final assessment is over. One crore 23 lakh voters were eligible to vote in seven districts of the state. Polling was by and large peaceful. ‘Both by campaigning and polling percentage election to local self government institutions of Kerala was at par with an assembly election, if not better. Compared to 2005 election the present increase in polling is about 12 per cent.
